Report Uncovers Consumer Trends in Flooring Industry

Luxury vinyl was the most popular flooring choice among consumers last year, maintaining its top spot from 2023, according to Roomvo’s 2025 flooring trends report.

The room visualization company’s data showed luxury vinyl saw the biggest rise in Asia, and remained dominant in the Americas. In Europe, it moved up to fourth from fifth spot in rankings.

Tile remained the leading flooring choice in Europe in 2024, followed by laminate and hardwood.

In North America, luxury vinyl was most popular in the rainiest regions. Tile, especially ceramic and porcelain, was in higher demand in hotter areas like Florida, Texas, California and Arizona, because of its resistance to heat.

In terms of colour, earthy tones rooted in nature’s elements — soil, sand, stone and clay — continued to lead the way. Beige led the trend, making up 49 per cent of visualizations globally. It was the top choice across all regions, with Europe (56 per cent), Asia (53 per cent) and the Americas (46) showing strong preference.

Brown held second place globally with 28 per cent of visualizations and was more favourable in the Americas, compared to Europe and Asia.

Grey was preferred over white globally and in Europe, while white took the lead in Asia. In the Americas, grey and white were tied for third.

Shoppers visualized more floorings in 2024, than the previous year, the report found. Worldwide flooring visualizations increased by 15.4 per cent, with Asia seeing the largest surge at 30.8 per cent, followed by the Americas (16.4 per cent) and Europe (11 per cent). This growth reflects stronger shopping intent globally.

March remained the top month for flooring shopping globally, accounting for 9.6 per cent of flooring visualizations in 2024. October followed closely with 9.3 per cent, while December was the least popular month with just 6.7 per cent.

This pattern holds in the Americas and Europe, where March accounts for 9.4 per cent and 10.4 per cent of flooring visualizations, respectively. December is the least popular month with 6.9 per cent of visualizations in the Americas, and 5.9 per cent in Europe.

Shoppers were most likely to visualize flooring in their kitchens and living rooms in 2024, with each accounting for 20.8 per cent of room uploads.

In the Americas, kitchens ranked first for room uploads with 22.8 per cent, while living rooms
took second place with 18.1 per cent.

In Europe and Asia, shoppers were most likely to visualize flooring in their living rooms, accounting for 28.5 per cent and 41.7 per cent of room uploads, respectively.

Kitchens ranked second in Europe with 15 per cent of room uploads while hallways took second place in Asia with 9.2 per cent.

The Roomvo report was based on two years of room visualization data from 547 partners in flooring, tile and carpet, spanning nearly 200 million consumer interactions across 49 countries.
