Toronto-based Flooring Company Achieves Certification
Torlys has announced its two waterproof vinyl lines are now Assure certified.
Headquartered in Toronto, the company’s RigidWood and RigidTile collections achieved the accreditation after undergoing safety tests to ensure they adhere to the highest standards for indoor air quality, rigorous performance and are free of heavy metals and ortho-phthalates.
“We are very pleased to have reached this certification level, as it has always been our goal to offer consumers flooring that they are confident meets the highest standards,” says J.F. Pelletier, product management director at Torlys.
Launched in early 2020, the certification program was created by the Resilient Floor Covering Institute to ensure the continued growth and popularity of rigid core luxury vinyl tile (LVT) marketed and sold in North America, regardless of where it’s manufactured. The program is operated by SCS Global Services, an international leader in third-party certification and standards development.
Rigid core LVT is quickly gaining popularity across North America and is now the fastest growing resilient flooring category. It has evolved quickly from an innovative ‘multilayer’ resilient concept — first as expanded polymer core, also called WPC, and quickly adding solid polymer core (SPC) — to a popular, resilient waterproof flooring solution offered by many brands.
