Rewarding innovation

IDCDesign awards recognize manufacturers and suppliers

IIDEX Canada is attended by over 15,000 trade attendees from the interior design, architecture and facilities sectors. It is the ideal opportunity for manufacturers and suppliers to showcase their new and innovative products to the industry and gain direct access to professional specifiers for the built environment.

The IIDEX Canada Innovation Awards, in partnership with IDC, celebrate the industry’s leading manufacturers and suppliers within the fields of design and architecture, and recognize outstanding achievement in new product design.

Intense scrutiny

A panel of 16 judges from the interior design and architecture communities gathered on the morning of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and Innovation Awards gala, Sept. 25, 2013, to assess the entries based on their technical creativity, marketability and design ingenuity.

Winners were announced at the gala at Toronto’s Royal York Hotel to a crowd of over 800 attendees. This year, 34 products were selected to receive awards, including 10 Gold, 11 Silver and 13 Bronze. Top winners included IDC Industry members Richelieu, Interface and W Studios. There were also a number of winners from IIDEX’s International Pavilion, including Fas Serramenti and Sagsa Spa.

Stamp of approval

The following day, during IIDEX Canada, show attendees were sure to recognize winning products by the framed certificates displayed proudly in winning exhibitor booths. Show attendees from all sectors of the industry took note of the winning products and engaged with the manufacturers to learn more about their innovative designs.

“The products awarded are not only well designed, they stand out as sustainable, accessible, and have the users’ well-being in mind,” says lead judge, Michele Gun.  “They are certain to succeed in the marketplace.”

Coupled with IIDEX Canada, the Innovation Awards provide a unique opportunity for IDC Industry members – and prospective members as well – to be recognized for their achievements in product design. Show exhibitors are given a direct link to the interior designers who specify their products and to demonstrate that their work is not only innovative, but award winning.
