Ontario Flooring Contractor Sentenced for Fraud

A flooring contractor in Sarnia, Ont., has been sentenced to one year of house arrest for defrauding customers.

According to The Sarnia Observer, Kevin McMillan took more than $26,000 in deposits from customers and did not complete the work.

The news outlet reports that in spring and summer 2024, the owner of McMillan Flooring & More Inc. provided false excuses for material and installation delays, ignored customer inquiries and failed to deliver the flooring that customers had ordered.

McMillan was charged in October 2024.

He later pleaded guilty to multiple fraud counts involving six people and one organization.

The judge also sentenced McMillan to a six-month curfew following his house arrest, with GPS tracking throughout both periods, and two years of probation. He must report to his probation officer until all his victims are repaid in full, according to the court order.

McMillan Flooring & More was established in 2020, and went bankrupt in July 2024.
