NFCA Announces September Education Session

The National Floor Covering Association (NFCA) of Canada will host an online education session in September with International Standards and Training Alliance (INSTALL) executive director David Gross.

Titled ‘Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA): Managing Healthcare Construction Risk to Protect Patients,’ the session will cover how to implement environmental containment measures, including temporary barriers, negative air systems and airborne particulate control; maintain the documentation required to demonstrate ICRA compliance, support regulatory requirements and preserve manufacturer warranties; and understand the distinction between personal protective equipment designed to safeguard workers and infection control measures intended to protect patients and the healthcare environment.

Healthcare flooring installation requires specialized knowledge that extends well beyond traditional installation practices. Working safely in occupied healthcare facilities requires an understanding of these critical risk-management decisions that protect patients and healthcare staff, support facility operations and ensure successful project outcomes.

Since late 2022, Gross has served as executive director of INSTALL, the flooring industry’s manufacturer-endorsed training and certification program for professional floor covering installers. He has more than 25 years of industry experience as an installer, foreman, estimator, project manager and instructor, bringing practical field expertise and leadership to workforce development.

Prior to his current role, Gross spent eight years as a Level 3 flooring instructor at the Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Training Center in Hammonton, N.J.
