Mannington named New Jersey Family Business of the Year

Mannington Mills, a flooring manufacturer based in Salem, N.J., has been named “New Jersey Family Business of the Year 2016” by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

This recognition coincides with the company’s Centennial year as it joins an elite group of local and national family-owned companies — those in continuous business for 100 years.

As only one percent of family-owned businesses survive to the fourth generation, Mannington’s success as a fifth generation, family-owned company places it in rarified company.

Keith Campbell, Mannington chairman of the board, accepted the award during a ceremony at the Livingston, N.J., Crystal Plaza, along with: Russell Grizzle, Mannington ceo; Zack Zehner, Mannington senior vice president of Distribution Network (and a Campbell family member); and Ian Campbell, Mannington senior analyst of Segment Strategy (and a Campbell family member).

Mannington produces the great majority of its flooring at its own manufacturing plants in the U.S.: 100 percent of its sheet vinyl and vinyl composition tile in New Jersey; 100 percent of its laminate flooring in North Carolina; 100 percent of its commercial carpet in Georgia; 100 percent of its rubber flooring in California and Florida; about 90 percent of its hardwood flooring in Alabama and North Carolina; and 80 percent of its luxury vinyl flooring in Georgia.

A commitment to the world outside of Mannington is central to the company’s core value of “do the right thing,” the company says. Reducing Mannington’s impact on the environment through a reduction in water and energy usage, an increase in recycling and product life-cycles, and other initiatives, has won the company accolades at local, state and national levels.

Mannington’s position as a major employer in the communities where it resides offers opportunities for the company (and its associates) to support a variety of national and local organizations/events. Among those in New Jersey are: The United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Food Bank of South Jersey and Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey.
