Getting connected
Social networking via IDC membership
IDC acts as the professional association for interior designers across Canada, while also representing the manufacturers and suppliers that serve the interior design community through our Industry membership program. We provide many services to our industry members, such as advertising and direct-mail opportunities, networking at events and much more. One of the newest services we offer is using our social media outlets to promote our Industry members.
IDC is proud to promote and share our members’ news about important staffing changes, partnerships, awards, new products and events. As the national advocacy association for the profession of interior design, IDC is able to connect with diverse groups within the design community. By sharing news on behalf of our Industry members, we are amplifying the voice of our members while connecting them with the design community at large.
Campaign outreach
Recently, IDC has helped several of our Industry members spread the word about their partnerships and campaigns, including IDC Industry partners Interface and Levey Wallcoverings. This year, Interface is the proud sponsor of the David Suzuki Foundation 30X30 Challenge, which asks Canadians to spend 30 minutes in nature each day for 30 days. IDC shared this initiative to our over 1,600 Facebook followers and nearly 1,500 followers on Twitter.
Through the power of our popular social media outlets, we were able to spread the message to the interior design community at large and make our followers aware of an important initiative that relates to core values of interior design: health and balance. Our members and followers are now able to share and participate in this challenge sponsored by Interface and share their experiences with the greater design community.
Spreading the word
Levey Wallcoverings recently ran a campaign called Gage for Greys, where they asked followers to share their favourite grey designs, or to seek inspiration from Levey’s own grey wallcoverings. By sharing this campaign with our members and followers, we were able to facilitate a dialogue about one of the most popular colours for 2013 and promote the business of an IDC industry Partner, the cornerstone of IDC Industry membership.
In addition to sharing the news of our Industry members, IDC promotes the interior design community through our own creative online initiatives. To celebrate World Interiors Day and its 50th anniversary year, the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) invited 50 cities around the globe to proclaim May 25 as World Interiors Day.
As a member of IFI, IDC has proudly supported this project throughout the month of May by tweeting and sharing 25 different ways for people to celebrate World Interiors Day. While giving our followers ways to honour the profession of interior design, we were also happy to hear how our members chose to celebrate and to receive photos of inspiring interior spaces.
By connecting our members and interior-design enthusiasts to the design community at large through our association and social media, IDC has become a destination for those seeking to learn more about the industry.
