CPL Solutions Awarded Gold by Starnet for Canadian Project
Couvre-Planchers Labrosse Inc. took top honours at this year’s Starnet Design Awards in the Canadian Project of the Year category.
The Quebec-based company, also known as CPL Solutions, nabbed gold for its contribution to Groupe Legault’s new 40,000-square-foot head office in Montreal.
The design concept, implemented by Folio Design, was strongly inspired by a collection of carpets that serve as pops of colour throughout the relatively monochromatic space.
Concrete-effect tile by Mohawk Industries was used to impart the desired industrial and refined look. It was also chosen to meet Groupe Legault’s maintenance and durability standards since animals are welcome in the space. This is not surprising given the company specializes in the manufacture, distribution and sale of pet food and treats. (Its brand portfolio includes Mondou and Ren’s Pets, two of Canada’s largest pet food and accessory chains, as well as several proprietary brands.)
Darker areas of floor covering underline and accentuate the circulation areas, including access ramp for reduced mobility and stairs.
Wood-look vinyl slats were used to highlight the different walkways inhabiting the premises.
Now in its 25th year, the Starnet Design Awards honour outstanding projects completed by the organization’s members in partnership with architects, designers and Starnet aligned manufacturing partners.
Gold category winners were selected by a panel of judges in seven categories: corporate, education, healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use developments, unique installation and Canadian project. Each gold category winner contended for the overall 2023 Starnet grand prize award.
This year’s grand prize was presented to Commercial Flooring Systems Inc. for its work at Children’s Hubbard Hospital Centre for Children in Omaha, Neb.
