Coverings Reveals Earth Day Activities for Conference Kick-off

Coverings has released a curated selection of sustainability-centric show activities to commemorate Earth Day, April 22, which is also the kick-off of the multi-day event.

Attendees will be able to participate in Earth Day festivities through a wide selection of learning seminars, workshops, displays, tours and philanthropic programs to showcase the many eco-friendly aspects of ceramic tile. Education session topics specifically geared to the architecture and design community include Tile Industry Insights: Deciphering Embodied Carbon and Green Architecture and Design, scheduled for April 22. Seminars Building Resilience for Health and Reducing Embodied Carbon with Natural Stone are both slated for April 24. On April 23, Green Builder Media will host its Housing 2.0 workshop. Participants must register separately and pay a fee to secure their spot for this session.

Show-goers will also have the opportunity to take part in the Clean the World initiative by transforming used soap bars and plastic amenities that the hospitality industry would otherwise discard into life-saving, essential supplies for communities in need across the globe. Volunteering just a few minutes of their time on April 22, attendees will produce recycled hygiene kits in Hall B, Booth 1017 at the Georgia World Congress Centre. The completed kits will then be donated to a local philanthropic organization in Atlanta.

Throughout the show, renowned mosaic artist David Arnott will display his tile mosaic representation of the planet in the Artisan Showcase in Hall C, Booth 7259. His artwork will be crafted with leftover tiles from Coverings’ exhibitors, transforming potential waste into an original piece of art. The completed mosaic will then be donated to a local Atlanta organization.

New for 2024 is Coverings Cares. This program underscores the show’s commitment to supporting green initiatives, the tile and stone industry, and the local Atlanta community through a donation pool of up to $50,000. Attendees have the opportunity to select and support one of six vetted charitable organizations when they register for the event, including EarthDay.org, the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement. Coverings will donate $10 to the organization chosen by each event registrant, who can then match or exceed the donated amount if desired. Donations will be given to the designated philanthropic causes for the first 5,000 attendees who attend this year’s event in person.

Coverings runs April 22-25. It is the largest international tile and stone exhibition and conference in North America, featuring more than 1,000 exhibitors from 40 countries.
